This tag is used to clarify the spelling of compound words. Should two words be separated by a space, joined with a hyphen, or run together with no space at all?

Multiple hyphens in a word or 'word': are such assemblages acceptable?
I don't personally think that using multiple hyphens is a general problem. I have often seen words like "four-year-old" and the like to make an example.
