The title makes this pretty straightfoward. Is there an english word or words for someone who can understand technical things with ease, or at least more easily than the average person?

Maybe tech-savvy. I’m sure there are several other hyphenated options, too. Tech-genius. There’s also technical whiz.

Have you met John, he's a real tech wizard! (There are plenty of online search results for this phrase)
or, slightly more formally:

2Whiz, wiz, and wizard, which are broader than whiz kid, would also work if they connoted technical wizardry only, but they don't. It would seem one needs an adjective, e.g., technical whiz, wiz, or wizard. Commented Jun 20, 2020 at 15:10
