How logicalylogical is the AND -conjunction word in English"and"?

Tom says Tom: "Follow the rules!"

Jane says Jane: "Thank you, I will follow your advice ANDand keep my mind open for new ideas?"

What if Jane wantswanted to say is: "Yes

Jane: Yes, I will follow the rules" BUTbut nevertheless "If"if I get a better idea I would use this and skip the rules!"

If I wouldn'tdidn't know the answer of TomTom's previous statement, I would think, that the statement of Tom Jane is quoting Tom's "keep your mind open for new ideas!"

Can Jane use "AND" in this context or is there a better word to connect the two sentences of "Thank you, I will follow your advice" and "keep my mind open for new ideas?"
