Someone claims to me that the hyphen in the word "Uh-oh" is a letter, not a punctuation mark, because it represents a phonological instruction (the glottal stop). Is this true? I have never heard of hyphen being a letter in under certain conditions, neither did I find anything like it when googling, but i might not be googling the correct terms.
Can a hyphen be a "letter" in some words?
