Well I'm not a native English speaker, but sometimes I get the feeling that English words'the pronunciation of English words is random.

Why is "Yosemite" is being pronounced as "Yoh-Sem-Ee-Tee" and written as "Yosemite" and not as "Yosemitee"?

Thanks!
