For example, a forum's State field could have the requisite that it's drop-down be country specific, thus making a Country field required.

Sep 1, 2015 at 13:11 comment added Jason S @Pacerier Although 'dependency' is sometimes used interchangeably - in software circles - to refer both to something that depends on another thing, and the thing it depends upon, in English it only has the former meaning. The double-meaning misusage of 'dependency' has the effect of being antonyms that are the same word, and so cannot be used in the same context. It is used one way or another depending on the context but as you can see from the answer and comments at english.stackexchange.com/a/25580/135909 it only leads to confusion. I think better stick to the correct meaning.
