I can tell from my short research, most of the sources provide the above definition of stock (i.e. the one provided also by Invetopedia). However, it does not seem to fit the phrase "share of stock", which is very common. Is there another meaning of "stock"? I would expect something very close to what you mention in your point one - participation in owership of company. | |
