I am the founder and executive director of a small peer-run nonprofit organization. The term peer-run is used to describe organizations created, managed and staffed all with people in recovery from mental health conditions.
I am a grant writer, blogger and am responsible for the content on our website and in our newsletters, brochures and other publications. My blog is gaining readership and followers very quickly. It is blog.empowermentservices.org
I love to write and feel I am a decent writer. However, I do struggle with some minor grammar rules and I tend to use too many words. I haven't taken a college writing course for many years and have forgotten some things. I am working on being a better writer, writing more concisely with less words and looking for tips.
My mother used to do proof reading as part of a advertising art director position. I often have her proof my writing and she frequently finds double words, missing prepositions and conjunctions. When I have a flow of ideas, I tend to write quickly and don't notice these errors even when reviewing my work.
