Carl Smith

I starting learning to program in 2010 with Python, and started hacking on IPython soon after. I published my first open source project, NotebookCloud, about two years later.

NotebookCloud was pretty successful, with thousands of scientists and programmers using it to manage IPython Notebooks on AWS EC2. The project kicked off my professional programming career, and introduced me to the Web, JavaScript and App Engine. I still use essentially same stack today, building cloud based apps and services with Python and HTML5.

I freelance as a software developer (creating webapps) and as a tech writer (documenting Python, its ecosystem and various Web technologies). I've also had some success teaching Python and the Web remotely (top 1% at Thinkful).
