I grew up in the north-east of England and have spent the years since 2010 in Scotland, Canada, Yorkshire and London. As someone who is fascinated by the interaction of my regional accent and 'standard' English, my interests are mainly in British regional dialects - not just in their vocabulary, but in their syntax and grammar differences from written English which often leak into my spoken English.
After receiving an MA (Hons.) in French and Russian, with a focus on translation and applied linguistics, I studied law, and now work in the legal sector (and have developed a side-interest in use of technical words which have leaked into standard English - per se, prima facie, etc.) and geek out on language in my spare time. I enjoy conlanging and discussing linguistics with anyone who will listen to me.
