NMI

After a three-decade career in administration, I finally took the plunge into one based on words—a lifelong passion of mine. So now I work as a freelance writer (whenever I must) and copyeditor (whenever I can). I use Australian English by default and, therefore, eschew the serial comma unless its use is necessary for clarity (I do relent when working for US clients).

Some time back I learnt basic Spanish while living in Central America and South America for three years. I've found it helpful for broadening my knowledge of English, as has been my dimly remembered high school French. I would so love to have been part of the earlier generations of Aussies who were able to learn Latin at school. I love to acquire new vocabulary and technical terms and am pleased to have found this erudite community of like-minded logophiles.
