in the lesson we did a test, and in one task( context - prnt.sc/kw8yiw !) I saw this expression. After I crossed out the word "stories", the teacher marked this one incorrect so I expostulated with him. To get a complete picture you should know that my teacher does not know English at the proper level and speaks with a perceptible russian accent(just like I, but I'm 13yo student). To finish the dispute, I need to find out what intelligent people think about it. Maybe for you, these two words look the same, but I said that "you can not know for sure what an American or a British would choose." Soooo. What would you choose? What is the diffrence between them? Did I have the right to cross out this word?
What is the diffrence between "news" and "news stories"?
