For example, if there is a debate around a topic and there are two views, and someone says this:

This statement should assure one that this paper is suitable.

Does this imply there are two different views on the paper?

And the person saying it believes their view is correct but does it mean they would not respect the other view?

It could just as easily imply that the paper, if spread on the floor, will collect the dirt spilled as a result of the argument.

  • It depends on the statement. This question is poorly posed and fuzzy.

  • Depends entirely on context. What statement are you talking about?
