No. People are comfortable, as are chairs and rooms. Comfort is an abstraction -- The Byzantines loved comfort. May 1 at 18:02
  • English is idiosyncratic: often unpredictable. Though 'He was in agony/pain/great discomfort' are idiomatic, 'He was in comfort' is unacceptable. May 1 at 18:27
