I have the following sentence, where I have difficulty with the correct usage of commas.

Inpatient nursing care is available for medically stable patients, who do not require constant medical attention but need nursing and medical procedures that cannot be delivered at home.

The sentence should be written as: Inpatient nursing care is available for medically stable patients who do not require constant medical attention but need nursing and medical procedures that cannot be delivered at home. No commas whatsoever. That's because who do not... is a defining clause (and not a nondefining one— because it identifies a particular subset of the medically stable patients.) May 27 at 7:57
