As a language learner I sometimes browse the English section of HiNative to answer questions in my spare time, and a day ago I ran across a question that puzzled me. I can't remember the exact wording, but the example went something like this:
"The results showed that red was linked to emotions like passion and violence. Blue was found to be more associated towards calmness and relief. White indicated cleanliness and purity.
Results showed each color was linked to different emotions."
The question was, why can "the" be omitted from "results" in the final line? I have an inkling it has to do with either the fact that it is a summary, or that it is suggesting a continuation of the trend for all other colors, but I can not think of any specific rule that I can confidently state as the reason why "the" is capable of being omitted.
