Which word do you think is the verb here? – Kris Nov 21 '18 at 10:12
  • I think it is Fitted. – Sura Nov 21 '18 at 11:02

'To fit' is a transitive verb in this sentence. It means 'to adjust, to tailor something'. The verb in the sentence is in the Present Simple Passive.

  • But it's used adjectivally. You can't say "I well fitted the blocks." So it's not passive. – curiousdannii Nov 21 '18 at 14:40
  • It IS Passive. The absence of the logical subject can be easily reconstructed: '... by builders'. – user307254 Nov 21 '18 at 14:54
  • 'Fitted' is a verb form as it is modified by an adverb 'well'. – user307254 Nov 21 '18 at 14:59
  • The sentence with Active Voice would be: 'I fitted the blocks well'. – user307254 Nov 21 '18 at 15:01
  • Then the passive sentence would be "the blocks were fitted well". – curiousdannii Nov 21 '18 at 22:07
