  • Check that word in a good dictionary and see usage examples. Are more examples derogatory than not, or is it the other way? Good Luck. – Kris Jul 27 '18 at 12:09

Is it offensive to them? Well, we don't know. How about you ask them? We can't know what's offensive to someone we've never even met. And you do realize that "partner" can be offensive, too? Any word can, for that matter. You daffodil. – RegDwigнt Jul 27 '18 at 12:26

It's not an alternate term for "partner." – Kris Jul 27 '18 at 12:32
