How would you properly list a set of cities followed by their country?

Would you do so as such: "Marseilles, Nice, & Paris, France"

Very carefully. – Hot Licks May 21 '18 at 18:17
  • Perhaps with parentheses: "Marseilles, Nice, & Paris (France)" – Weather Vane May 21 '18 at 18:39
  • It would depend on what the list is for. France: Dijon, Lyons and Paris. If your list is by country. – Lambie May 21 '18 at 19:01
  • @WeatherVane You have the right idea, but used an odd mix of parallelism and punctuation: Marseilles (Nice) and Paris (France). – Jason Bassford May 22 '18 at 1:47
  • @JasonBassford but Nice is not a country (or a department). Those are three towns or cities in France. – Weather Vane May 22 '18 at 8:08
