As I studied EIKEN Grade 1 examination, one of English examination in Japan, writing part, I saw the sentence below.

Today, the neuroArm allows surgeons to save the lives of patients who need surgery while inside an MRI machine.

I think that “while” is reduced clauses with while. So, the sentence can be written alternatively below.

Today, the neuroArm allows surgeons to save the lives of patients who need surgery while they are inside an MRI machine.

And I think that “inside” is preposition at this time.

Is it OK, my guess?

  • Yes, Taka, I think you have this right. – Xanne May 7 '18 at 7:41
