So I have this piece in which a person 1 is telling a person 2 a long story. On several occasions, the person 1 weaves in his own dialogue with a person 3 in his story.
Obviously, I placed quotation marks at the beginning of each paragraph of the 1st person's story and closing quotation marks only at the end of his story. I also put single quotation marks around the dialogue sentences within the 1st person's story.
Is this sufficient? Should I add quotation marks at the beginning of each dialogue sentence since they are still part of the 1st person's narrative? Should I indent all dialogue within the 1st person's narrative?

Can we get you to add a specimen of the dialogue in question? – Stan Apr 9 '18 at 22:32
  • That's what edit is for. Edit your question to include more information. Then remove your comment. : ) Then I'll delete my comments to clean up the question. – Stan Apr 9 '18 at 23:11
  • At first I agreed with Stan and then I realised no, this belongs in English Language Learners, not here. – Robbie Goodwin Apr 22 '18 at 17:11
