How do you write ten-person apartments? Ten-persons-apartment or ?

Thank you for your answer.

  • Each ten-person apartment can accommodate ten persons. – deadrat Nov 1 '15 at 21:07
  • The general rule is that you hyphenate the words composing a compound adjective, but not a noun. But of course this is English, so there are exceptions. – Hot Licks Nov 1 '15 at 21:10
  • According to this table (excerpted from the book The Chicago Manual of Style) you should write it like this: ten-person apartment. (See the 2nd page, 4th row) – Færd Nov 1 '15 at 21:12
