Difference between these two sentences:
- I was the first person to leave.
- I left first.
- You will be the first to know
- You will know first

Sign up to join this communityThe first sentence implies some sort of significance to be the first to leave. The second is quite factual and just a statement stating that the person left first.
There's not a meaningful difference between either pair, though "you will be the first to know" is much more common than "you will know first."
