Mar 29, 2021 at 21:18 comment added Xanne The mathematical routine or formula is an algorithm, I think. But that’s tech language.
Mar 29, 2021 at 21:11 comment added Xanne If it’s “the importance of each case,” it’s a case value, perhaps. Ultimately it will be relative though, won’t it? And the scale is arbitrary, e.g., it can go from 1 to 5 or 1 to 100. So you weight the results. The weights may allow you to manipulate the data to get your preferred result.
Mar 29, 2021 at 20:42 comment added user137927 @Xanne Yes, what is your suggestion for it?
Mar 29, 2021 at 20:30 comment added Xanne So, it assigns a value, as you yourself said. Apparently not relative. So it has a scale of some kind.

Mar 29, 2021 at 18:42 comment added Edwin Ashworth Obviously, 'triaging' would work here, were it not for the conflict with the standard medical usage. [triage: to examine problems in order to decide which ones are the most serious and must be dealt with first] [CD]
Mar 29, 2021 at 18:33 comment added Cascabel_StandWithUkraine_ I have removed my VTC, and upvoted. However, I have a lot of doubts about the question. At least 3 users here have suggested "weighting" as an answer. The OP's English is proficient, but they seem to be unfamiliar with the usage.

Mar 29, 2021 at 17:50 comment added Jim I would call it a weighting network. It assigns a weight to its input. I don’t thing weighting here will be confused with training the network if that’s what you’re asking. Weighting usually is not about discovering the value of some intrinsic attribute but is assigning metadata, if you will, based on some external criteria a la multi-criteria decision making.

Mar 29, 2021 at 17:33 comment added user137927 It is not ranking because it does not rank relatively but provide a float number as weight (continuous weighing instead of discrete ranking). But do you think weighting is equal to learning weights? Isn't it equal to measuring something hidden which is the instinct of an object?
Mar 29, 2021 at 17:29 comment added Jim Isn’t it just a ranking (or weighting) algorithm?
Mar 29, 2021 at 17:20 comment added user137927 As I said, in our case weight shows the importance and it is changeable. Actually, it is different from an existing attribute of an object we call it, "weight". So, we don't want a word that implies measuring an attribute but learning and assigning it.
