Even if it's unfamiliar to listeners, its echoic similarity to words like fractured and fraction make it fairly intuitive that it would mean something like "not working together", and the connotations of childish irritability make it particularly damning for co-workers who ought to be cooperatively-working. It's also nice that it can apply to characteristics of an individual or to group dynamics. | |
