I no longer have my set of the Encyclopedia Britannia, but I have a vague memory of a volume of abstracts -- more than a Table of Contents, but less than a summary. Is this what you mean? One answer suggests index, but nowadays, that is at the end and is just a list of the important words in the book, with the pages on which they occur. | |
