I was a nontraditional student at the University of Kentucky. I just graduated but the economy is interfering with my career change. However, that means I'll have lots of time to pursue all the good ideas on SO!

What word best describes a small store that sells only glasses (spectacles)? I thought only ophthalmologists and optometrists could do exams; opticians just make & fit the glasses prescribed by one of the others. At least, in the USA. |

The ambitious/arrogant tone of “I” Just a side note about feeling arrogant/ambitious. If you want the job (or whatever the CV is for), then your goal is to be truthful so the people to whom you submit it can decide if you might fit their needs. Being truthful is not the same as being arrogant, if in fact you do have the skills & experience they seek. Arrogance would be to say, I am better than all other candidates (how would you know, since you haven't seen their CVs?). |

Could I always use “have” (and never use “have got”)? +1 for trying to avoid using "got", which is overused and generally redundant. |

Doubt about the subject in this phrase: I, me, or myself? DISagree with the "...and myself." There is nothing self-reflexive about the use here, so "me" is correct. |

Use “whom” in emails? I also try to use correct grammar in emails (though not necessarily capitalization), but if you want to sound more informal, just drop the who/whom: "Hey, thanks, I chatted with the guy you said would be calling." |

“Any” or “some” in various questions? @lisak. "some" and "somebody" are not the same words and the 'some' portion does not carry the same meaning. You cannot conclude anything about "somebody" based on connotations implied in "some". Also, the verb tense in your "Questions" example is incorrect. |

What is the meaning of “being the type to point fingers”? Not merely someone who (in one instance) blames, but someone who habitually finds fault. |
