What is the unit measure used to detect magnetic indentations in a hard drive? @jwodder, it depends on context. Where, hydroparadise, will you use this word? In a technical document? A novel? |

What is the unit measure used to detect magnetic indentations in a hard drive? However, I am pretty sure what is measured is the change in magnetic field, and the 1 or 0 is determined by when that changes. |

Word for tower used for keeping watch by security Could we have more context? How do you plan to use the word? In a medieval novel? A modern account of prison life? |

Sentence case in a message In the game, there is no dash. The text appears closer to a sign than a sentence, with 'Wrong answer' set above 'Try again'. |

Phrase for ending up paying for having done a favor @Kaz, thanks for pointing that out. I had wanted to write a -lot- about how I dislike that phrase, and got distracted. |

Phrase for ending up paying for having done a favor If someone were to offer me the finger, I would take it as a rude gesture. If someone were to suggest I pull their finger, I would expect a rude, flatulent, response (a fart). |

Phrase for ending up paying for having done a favor The context of 'a finger' in your culture is, I think, quite different from english. Perhaps it is closer to "Lift a finger to help, and (they) will take your whole hand." |

Phrase for ending up paying for having done a favor I think the OP (Miserable Variable) has asked two questions. I also think this is the best answer for the first phrase. |

What word can I use for unclear music? Describe in detail how the music over the radio is unclear and noisy. That will help a lot in finding a particular word to describe it. For instance, the pitch might be modulated up and down by some strange single side band doppler effect. Or the volume might fade in and out. Or there might be a lot of hiss and crackle. |

What is land area under house called besides the whole land? Isn't floor space closer to carpet space? But I like 'plinth area', it sounds nice and architectural. Upvoted for that. |
