Why is it “Do a Barrel Roll” and not “Does a Barrel Roll”? Why did the barrel cross the road? No, wait, mine didn't turn out funny :| |

Can “No thanks” be used in place of “No need to say thanks”? No, I was referring to "No thanks." I always thought of it as of "No, thanks" with the comma omitted. |

Can “No thanks” be used in place of “No need to say thanks”? Is it grammatically correct to not have a comma after "no" in this case? |

Changes in English names of people My mind has been blown. Jack is the pet name for John?! Like, I could call John Lennon "Jack" and he'd know I was talking to him? Jack Lennon, it just sounds wrong :) And Jack Shepard vs John Locke, just thinking about calling John Locke "Jack" makes my brain hurt :) |

How did “sinister”, the Latin word for “left-handed”, get its current meaning? I'm a southpaw. Reading this made by back cold. |

“If the bowl had been stronger, my song had been longer.” Souldn't it be "if the bowl had been stronger, my song would have been longer" then? |

Antonym for “Virgin” @kiamlaluno There are plenty of people out there that are neither virgin nor pregnant. Some of them can't get pregnant at all (mostly men). |

Why are country names localized and city names not? Just an observation: New York is "New York" in Russian, but New Orleans is "Noviy Orlean," translated and singular. I.e., parts of city names may be translated if they are common words, but there's no rule. |

Can one say, “John Doe for World Cup,” meaning “I vote for John Doe to have a place in the national team”? Thanks! I needed something short and catchy and with "the" it really sounds right. Ouch, how could I forget that "the"? :) |
