comment Why do some people prefix people's names with “the”?
This is in fact common in Spanish among people with low education level.

comment Is “May I have some drink?” incorrect?
If I got it straight, "give me a beer" would mean "give me a bottle of beer", while "give me some beer" would mean "give me anything with beer inside", right?

comment “Is not dead” origin?
Great explanation. As I stated, I'm not native (thought really interested in the English language), so I couldn't really tell how old it was. I think my question would better be is not dead got popular, but for the actual question, great answer.
