comment Can I say “acquiesce” and be acquiescent?
@MarkBeadles - I guess my confusion stemmed from the word protest, which I initially took to mean as, "saying or implying anything against a proposal."

looks like I need a better dictionary. So if I say, "I acquiesce to whatever...." I am saying that I disagree or have reservations, but I will submit and press the issue no further. This makes more sense to me.

@JoshuaDrake - Whenever I've heard it said, it's never prefaced with "in."

Might be a Pennsylvania thing. Here's another example: I was waiting for my wife to join me at the table for breakfast and she told me to "cut her grapefruit awhile." Meaning that she's coming, but in the meantime I should make myself useful. This is what really sparked the question.

comment Is it correct to say “I'm not urgent to do something”?
@jwpat7 - I guess in this context I meant - expand the word to its meaning (or at least the particular meaning you are trying to convey).
