This tag is best used to refer to technology in the broadest sense. More specific kinds of technology should use a qualifier. For computers, the Internet, gadgets, apps, software and so forth the term "information technology" is best.
The initial Merriam-Webster definition of technology is "the practical application of knowledge especially in a particular area : engineering 2 ." Wikipedia defines it as "the making, modification or improvement, applied activity or behavior, usage, and knowledge of tools, machines, techniques, crafts, systems, methods of organization, or environmental modifications or arrangement in order to solve a problem, improve a preexisting solution to a problem, achieve a goal or perform a specific function." Wikipedia also notes that "the term can either be applied generally or to specific areas: examples include construction technology, medical technology, and information technology."
