If somebody doesn't trust people or trusts them only after a very long time that proves them trustworthy, can we call this person cynical?

And if somebody is interested in a person just for benefits can we call them cynical as well?

I recommend that you consult both the dictionaries at thefreedictionary.com (enter cynical + meaning, and follow the third web result). Between them, I believe, they give a thorough analysis. – Edwin Ashworth Nov 13 '12 at 22:59

This question is too basic; it can be definitively and permanently answered by a single link to a standard internet reference source designed specifically to find that type of information. See the FAQ for guidance on how to improve it.
