What is the full form of "e.g." as we use it to say "for example"?

Like

There were people from many Asian countries e.g. India, Japan..

This is an abbreviation of "exempli gratia", which can be translated like "for the sake of an example".

Here is a list of other (relatively) often used latin phrases in English.
