I'm really confused when using adjectives and nouns.

Nouns often have their adjective forms. When I want to modify a noun, I have to chose one form to use. Is there any rule?

It's said that adjectives are used to express implied meaning while noun forms are used to provide real, easily understandable meanings. Is this correct?

An example of what you mean would help. It is not true that adjectives "express implied meaning" while nouns are concrete. If I say, "The box is brown", "brown" is an adjective and is quite concrete. If I say, "I want meaning in life", "meaning" is a noun but it is a pretty vague concept here. – Jay Jun 20 '12 at 15:16
