Wombat is the name of our hostel and we've come up with a catch phrase. Should it be follow the Wombat or follow Wombat? All I am asking is whether I can use ‘the’ in front of Wombat. The name of our hostel is just Wombat Hostel. I've came up with a catch phrase "follow the Wombat" (he is in our logo). We don't refer to it as The Wombat Hostel but in "follow the wombat" we mean a specific wombat form our logo.

"wombat" is "womb" plus "at"! (For those who are following closed questions this morning) – JeffSahol Jun 14 '12 at 13:22
Do you refer to your hotel as the Wombat or as plain Wombat? – Mitch Jun 14 '12 at 13:53
I see the grammar tag but I don't see a question of grammar. That's probably why the question is being closed. If there is a point of grammar that needs to be explained, please edit the question. – MετάEd Jun 14 '12 at 14:15

whether to use "the" in front of Wombat is not a grammar question? – Michał Korzeniowski Jun 14 '12 at 14:30

The issue here is this: in English, using "the" with proper names is not done by grammatical rule, but instead is arbitrary. Some proper names use "the", some don't, and you have to learn which ones do and don't. When you make a name for your hostel, "Wombat" you choose if it has "the" or not. But if you're referring not to the hostel, but to the beast, then you would need to use "the" if you are referring to a particular wombat. – Mark Beadles Jun 14 '12 at 18:55
