English Language & Usage Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for linguists, etymologists, and serious English language enthusiasts. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I read and understand the answer to the question "Is it right to call it “SEO” and how do you pronounce it?" here, but the canonical pronunciation, in my case, failed when I talk to people of Latin American or Far East origins (most of the time), I don't have this problem talking to Europeans.

Is there a way I can pronounce SEO that works for all dialects? If not, how should I pronounce it for dialects that don't understand me?

What is a -glish? Do you mean dialects of English? What is the problem you are having? Are people who are not English speakers not understanding your use of SEO? – Matt Эллен Mar 19 '12 at 9:25
@MattЭллен - -glish means "local (En)glish, which are *English in pronunciation only be name" - [Ru]glish,[Portu]glish... Mothetongue-specific accents and labels - they exist, I know. Problem is easy - when I say "ess ee oh"|"ess ee oo"|"ess ee ou" I get "What???" and have to repeat full form - "Search Engine Optimization". It drive me nuts – Lazy Badger Mar 19 '12 at 9:38
So do the people you are talking to speak English? If so you are talking about dialects, otherwise I am somewhat lost. – Matt Эллен Mar 19 '12 at 9:41
@MattЭллен - they (and I) think, that we speak somehow English – Lazy Badger Mar 19 '12 at 9:43

After reading all the comments, and having a brief discussion in chat, I am still not sure what the question here is. If native speakers can understand you, you don't have a problem. If non-native speakers can't understand you, you don't have a question for this site. If a non-native speaker doesn't understand a perfectly valid pronunciation of a perfectly common English word, they should learn that word. Especially if that pronunciation actually spells out the word one letter at a time. – RegDwighт Mar 19 '12 at 11:58
