I am wondering are there any grammar rules just designed for an essay ? As a non-native English speaker I have been making number of grammar mistakes in all the research essays or reports.
And also remembering all the rules needs practice and time. Is there any quick way to fix this so that I can write my reports or essays (I'm planning to give GRE next month) error free ?

Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated and please don't get angry with me for asking quick fix instead of practicing grammar all these years (I'm already very sad about it).

Thanx!

It sounds as if you're asking for advice on style as much as on grammar. In either case, I don't think we can help you without seeing some examples of what it is that concerns you. Your post is mostly grammatical, but you need the indefinite article before 'number' in line 2 and in line 5 you need 'for a' between 'asking' and 'quick'. – Barrie England Oct 2 '11 at 9:53
Dear Barrie, thank you very much for quick reply and the correction. Though my post doesn't have any grammar errors, it doesn't mean that my English grammar is good. Haven't said that I agree with you on the point that I need both grammar and style. Is there a way I can practice it in one month ? And I'm 27 year old stem cell biology researcher (Just in case) – repinementer Oct 2 '11 at 10:05
This is the opening paragraph I created. I have been criticized by my colleague who is a native English speaker that this lacks style and grammar. "Almost every human being on the planet suffers from a known or unknown disease and treating the disease in a best way possible is very crucial. There were times the whole world crippled by diseases like polio and still by diseases like cancer." – repinementer Oct 2 '11 at 10:14

If, as I suspect, you are a non-native speaker, I can only suggest you find a good teacher, or at least a good grammar book specifically for advanced foreign learners. – Barrie England Oct 2 '11 at 10:15
It seems from that that you need to work on the use of the English definite and indefinite articles and on certain verb forms. – Barrie England Oct 2 '11 at 10:17
