According to some research, cloner is not an actual word, and to me it sounds horrible. (To be frank, it reminds me of the German word for toilet, Klo.)

What I mean is something/someone that has the task of cloning something that is clonable. In this case it's a programming context (so the cloner is a class), but I think the question is relatively unrelated to programming.

Do you have any suggestion?

I don't have a problem with cloner. But I don't speak much German, and I trust my own mind, and what others say/write, at least as much as I trust dictionaries when it comes to deciding whether or not something is a word. – FumbleFingers Sep 3 '11 at 19:36

I don't know about the suitability for the programming, but replicator comes to mind.

In most programming contexts, the concept of "cloning" is a bit trivial. If you want another one of something, you just copy it, or make a copy. If things are a bit more complex, you might use a factory – FumbleFingers Sep 4 '11 at 14:12
Now that you mention it, there is a "Copy properties from" command in Corel Draw, a software I'm familiar with. The 'Factory' bit is new to me. Thanks. – Autoresponder Sep 4 '11 at 14:36
