English Language & Usage Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for linguists, etymologists, and serious English language enthusiasts. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I'm sorry for this off-topic question, but you guys could know and help me out. I created an application for language recognition and I need a model text to test with. The more languages the better.

Any ideas please ? I was searching for that more than half an hour. Can't find anything appropriate

Do you need the same text translated into multiple languages, or just various texts in lots of languages? –  PLL May 25 '11 at 22:11

The same text in various languages. Some sort of professional translation if possible –  lisak May 25 '11 at 22:13

Lots of good options can be found at Wikisource; eg the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, or various well-known poems. –  PLL May 25 '11 at 22:13

@lisak: Wikisource exists in 61 languages; I don’t know if it would have any specific texts in all your languages, but it should have plenty that are in many of them, to give a wider variety of samples. Good luck with your app in any case! –  PLL May 25 '11 at 22:20
